As you are aware, cyber security is a significant and growing concern for Ontario law enforcement. A solid situational awareness of cyber threats within the law enforcement context and an understanding of tangible actions that can be applied to planning and implementation of cyber security measures is more crucial than ever.

To support you with this challenge, Ontario’s Cyber Security Centre of Excellence is pleased to invite you to a seminar on cyber risk management designed specifically for Ontario Law Enforcement. The seminar is hosted in partnership with Ontario Provincial Police and Toronto Metropolitan University’s Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst.

We encourage you to take full advantage of this free seminar to gain the foundational knowledge and tools to support incident response and better understand leading threats to the sector.

Seminar Details 

Day One: April 22, 2024 – 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Targeted at senior level decision-makers including Chiefs of Police, advisors, and senior administrators, this insight-filled afternoon will consist of moderated panels, expert presentations, and a plenary cyber security tabletop exercise.

No technical or cyber security knowledge is required. Topics will include:

  • An update on the strategic cyber threat landscape
  • Translating cyber risk to business and operational risk
  • A law enforcement incident response scenario (a plenary tabletop exercise)
  • Integrating cyber security into your policing strategy

Day Two: April 23, 2024 – 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Targeted at IT leaders or professionals that have responsibilities for IT or OT networks, systems, devices and software, this afternoon will consist of an interactive workshop that will focus on cyber security best practices with an emphasis on incident response.

No cyber security technical knowledge is required. Topics will include:

  • Cyber security best practices – What should you have in place today?
  • The Incident Response Lifecycle – How prepared is your organization?
  • An interactive tabletop exercise and debrief / lessons learned: What are the key organizational challenges in cybersecurity incident response?

Technical Details 

  • Sessions will be held in English only. 
  • Sessions will not be recorded to enforce that information and questions can be shared freely. 
  • Both days of the seminar will be held virtually on Microsoft Teams. To support participation, it is kindly requested that participants turn their cameras on. A calendar link will be shared upon registration.
