Thank You For Joining Us At Our 2024 Spring Conference and AGM

We wanted to thank all of our members that attended our Spring Conference and AGM. The event was a great success and it was a wonderful time connecting and collaborating with everyone.

All conference presentations are available on the OAPSB website. As a reminder, all conference attendees are invited to fill out a survey to share their thoughts on the event.

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

OPP Insurance Update

The OAPSB team is hard at work regarding the OPP Insurance issue. A sub-committee of your Board of Directors had been formed to review gathered information and options, including how other industries facing insurance challenges in the past have managed similar issues. A decision on how to proceed was made and we are hopeful to be able to provide you with insurance options in the near future.

We will provide updates as the process moves forward.

We have also created a discussion group dedicated to the OPP Insurance Issue on the OAPSB App for any questions that you have!

Announcing More Drop In Sessions

The OAPSB training team is excited to announce that they will be adding more drop in sessions for our members to the calendar! More details to follow regarding the schedule and how to sign up.

Changes to Staffing at the OAPSB

A Message from your Executive Director:

Pamela Dhaliwal, our Curriculum Developer, is unfortunately leaving the OAPSB. Although I fully support her decision and I am excited for what she will accomplish both professionally and personally in the coming year, I can’t help but feel disappointed that I will no longer get to work alongside her.

Pam’s understanding of the CSPA, financial expertise and analytical thinking were tremendous assets to the OAPSB during this time of transition. The plans that she and Jeanine have developed together will provide the groundwork from which to build our continued success. Pam has graciously agreed to support our new Curriculum Developer transition to the role over the next month. I will be providing more details of our newest team member in the coming week.

On a personal note, I want to thank Pam for her friendship and her support during this past year. Pam’s knowledge of the sector along with her skill set, is a combination matched by very few. I know she has made me better in my role, and I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to learn from her.

Pam, I know I speak for Jeanine and the entire team when I say, “you will be missed!” Wishing you continued success and happiness!

Lisa Darling, Executive Director

A Message from your Chair:

On behalf of the OAPSB Board of Directors and our membership, I want to express my sincerest gratitude to Pam Dhaliwal for her incredible work. Pam’s attention to detail, and passion for her work, have served our organization and you, our membership, exceptionally well!

Patrick Weaver, Chair of the OAPSB Board of Directors

A Farewell Message from Pam:

Partners, Colleagues, Peers and Board Members,

First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to each of you for your dedicated service on the Police Service Boards. Your commitment to policing in Ontario is commendable, and I deeply respect and appreciate the time and effort you’ve invested.

With a heavy heart, I must announce my departure from my role with the OAPSB. Balancing my full-time responsibilities alongside my OAPSB work here has become increasingly challenging. Rest assured, my commitment to policing remains unwavering, and I am certain I will remain on the fringes of what is happening as a personal interest, but I am hopeful our paths will cross again in the future.

Lisa and Pat, your support has been invaluable, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside you. JLB, I’ll miss our in-depth discussions, laughs and hours of going in circles during our ramp-up sessions and explorations of the CSPA.

To all the Board members who attended my information sessions, I apologize if the PowerPoint presentations overwhelmed you with regulations. My intention was to provide the necessary information, and I hope it served its purpose as well as a guide to move forward with your actions.

Over the last few weeks, I committed to ensuring a smooth transition and I will continue to assist to ensure that my responsibilities are transitioned seamlessly to my successor.

Thank you once again for the opportunity to be in this incredible journey with you. I wish everyone continued success and growth and especially patience with the transition. I can be reached through my LinkedIn.

With warm regards,
Pam
