Dear Police Service Board Chairs
StrategyCorp’s Municipal Services Practice is conducting it’s second survey of Ontario Police Service Board Chairs to explore and report on the key issues impacting police governance in Ontario. Our 2023 Survey Report can be accessed here.
Since our last survey, police governance in Ontario has come a long way, with Boards and Chiefs building an understanding of the new legislation, new community expectations, and a challenging public safety environment due to issues at home and around the world.
Against this unpredictable backdrop and in the lead up to a Fall municipal election, Ontario police service board chairs must budget and achieve governance and community priorities. This survey is intended to play a small part in the ongoing dialogue about effective police governance in Ontario. Participating in it is an opportunity to share successes and candidly express the challenges you are facing in these important leadership positions.
Participation in the survey takes the form of a phone or video-conference interview on Microsoft Teams, conducted by one of StrategyCorp’s senior Municipal Services team members. We would share the survey questions with you in advance, so you have a chance to reflect on the subject matter before our conversation.
Interviews are typically about one hour in length, and we make two commitments to all participants. First, we will faithfully record and report on your comments. Second, all contributions will remain confidential and non-attributable in our final report.
If you would be willing to participate and to provide your insights, please let Valrie Oldfield (voldfield@strategycorp.com) in our office know, and we will find a time that works for you. If you have any other questions please email Brian Teefy (bteefy@strategycorp.com).
